Linking ecosystem condition and ecosystem services: A methodological approach applied to European agroecosystems

Agriculture has been identified as one of the main drivers environmental degradation in European Union (EU). It can have negative impacts on air, water, soil and biodiversity. The condition agroecosystems is affected by degradation, especially erosion, which reduces agroecosystems' capacity to provide essential ecosystem services. Therefore, it necessary explore synergies trade-offs between pressures, services create relevant information for policy decision-makers implement sustainable response actions. As part EU policy, Mapping Assessment Ecosystems their Services (MAES) Working Group developed appropriate concepts assess link This study aims test indicators proposed MAES with provision. For this, we applied a suggested operational framework context Biodiversity Strategies 2020 2030 integrated assessment regulating service control erosion rates supply at scale.
